City girl, back home in the country
during the first warm days of spring.

I let my hair down,
even though it will get sticky from the sunscreen on my neck and shoulders.

First chance to go barefoot.
I pace back and forth on the warm dirt driveway.
Though I do worry for a moment,
that the feet I've spent so much time scrubbing clean and soft
will become dirty and calloused once again.
